DISTINCTIVE QUALITIES: 

Fresh black winter truffles from France and Italy (Tuber Melanosporum) are available from December to April, after their peak harvesting season. These seasonal luxury black winter truffles are sourced and shipped after you place your order, to ensure only the freshest and most natural truffles are shipped directly to you.

Also known as Périgord truffles, these wild and rare truffles are known for their intense aroma that is highly prized by the world’s finest chefs. Périgord truffles are truly one of the most beautiful edible gifts from nature. Highly intense and earthy flavors are those of oak, musk, and wood. The firm flesh presents itself in beautiful hues from deep gray to chocolate browns with marbling from ivory to gold.

What is a Perigord Truffle?

A Perigord Truffle, also referred to as a black winter truffle, is a seasonal truffle native to the Southern region of France, Spain, Italy, and other select regions Southern Europe . This rare delight is harvested fresh from the months of December to March.

Where do Perigord Truffles come from?

Black Perigord Truffles are harvested from Southern regions in Europe like France, Italy, and Spain, under the perfect climate and growing conditions. 

What do Perigord Truffles taste like?

Black Perigord Truffles have a distinct aroma and robust taste akin to cocoa, hazelnut garlic, and fresh pine nuts wrapped in one delicious package. With an intense earthy flavor, Perigord Truffles are often harvested and used for a traditional Perigueux sauce, a traditional and luxurious French truffle sauce used for red meats.

BEHIND THE PRODUCT: While truffle sniffing dogs have been used in the past to locate and harvest Winter Perigord Truffles, a new method has been tested with great success. Keenly-trained dogs have replaced foraging pigs, as they do not consume any of the found truffles as the pigs would.

To provide our customers with the freshest of truffles available on the market, this product is sourced after you order & ships approximately three days after initial order. Overnight shipping is NOT available.
